Chris Del Moro

Surfer / Artist

“Morat” is a freakishly talented all-rounder surfer guy; able to cross-step the longest of longboards, throw tail on the most modern of short boards and mix it up on everything in between. Such dexterity is a lure for surf-film-makers and they include Thomas Campbell and Taylor Steele, both of whom have thrust him into their films.

He considers himself a 'natural born gypsy', having travelled the world since the age of six, but has been based for the most part in Southern California with ties to far-flung Italy.Morat graduated UCSC with an emphasis on sustainable agriculture and land development and has served regularly as an LA County Lifeguard since age 18.

An avid artist, Morat has been taught the art of large-scale mural painting by fellow activist, Howie Cook, and their collaborations now adorn walls from Madeira to Malibu. Their colourful subjects are the cetaceans they strive to protect.

As co-Director of Surfers For Cetaceans, he has been instrumental in planning TransparentSea’s USA voyage, the latter stages of the journey will see the group pass through his current hometown, San Diego.
